Estella M. Lau
When I was a young girl living in Hong Kong, I was intrigued by the card
game ”Bridge”. For some inexplicable reason I always thought it might be a great
hobby to take up at some point.
I left Hong Kong to pursue higher education
in New York City, earning my B.A. at The City College, M.S. at Columbia
University and J.D. at Fordham Law School. Licensed to practice law in New York
State, I spent my entire career in NYC, commuting from a suburb in New Jersey
where my husband and I raised our daughter Jessica, who is now also an attorney
in NYC.
In 2012 my husband’s company merged with Express Scripts. He was
invited to join the management team which necessitated our relocation to St.
Louis. In searching for a new home in St. Louis, high on my list of questions to
our real estate broker was whether there was a Bridge Club in St. Louis! I was
absolutely delighted to find a vibrant and friendly Bridge Community at The St.
Louis Bridge Center. I knew very little about Bridge and Duplicate Bridge at the
time but I was ready to play. After my first trip to the Bridge Center I was
hooked. I became a life Master in 2016, Bronze Life Master in 2017 and Silver
Life Master in 2018. I am grateful to find a place where I can be challenged
mentally, entertained for hours at a time and make numerous wonderful
friends.
The Bridge Clubs here have enhanced my life in St. Louis in more
ways than I can enumerate. I am honored to have the opportunity to give back to
this wonderful community.
